USA censors Michael J. Fox
So my wife was watching Back to the Future on USA, while I was drawing fangs on the Iranian president. It is one of her favorite movies and she knows it by heart. So at some point she asks me a question. After realizing she is talking to me I ask her to repeat it. "Why did they censor the word terrorist from the movie." I gave her my best what are you talking about look and she explained. It probably makes more sense if you know the movie, but here goes. There is a part in the movie where Michael J. Fox's character is writing a note to the crazy professor, warning him he is going to be shot by terrorists. My wife said that not only did they remove the sound bite of the word terrorist while he is doing the voice over, but they also blurred the written word on the letter he was writing. Hmmmm. Why indeed? So I sat down to watch a little more of it to see what else might be censored. "Son of a Bitch". Nope not censored. "Bastard". Nope not censored. "Spook". Censored. So once again my wife asks why they are censoring these words and not others. I explain that they do not want to "upset" terrorists or black people. "But what about the bitches and bastards?", she asks. "I guess the left doesn't want to censor themselves." |
